This week I focused on making the posts more interactable. I added the ability to open a bigger view of the post if the user decides to click on it. From here, the user can like, make a comment on, or even report the post. Reporting still doesn’t work, but it’s coming up on the list of things to do in the near future. However, comments are up and running as intended. You can now open a post and make a comment to any post you can see. As of right now the comments can only be seen from the post they were made on and the user’s profile page. I don’t want to clutter the main feed right now, so until I add a visual indicator that a post is a comment to something, I will not put them on the main feed. I didn’t make it obvious right now because I want there to be a way to see both the comment post and the original post that it was posted to as well on the same form. That however will have to be done later.
Along with seeing a post in a bigger view, you can now see pictures in their original size when clicked. That way if you see an image that looks a little off because of the size limit of the feed, you can open it and see it the way it was meant to be seen.
Though I feel as though I have been making consistent progress in the project, I do feel as though one portion will have to be omitted, or at least saved for last: sharing. It seems simple at first, but with the way I have my tables set up on the database, I don’t think I gave myself the right tools to be able to do it, at least in the most efficient way. That’s not to say I won’t try, that’s just to say that I will put off doing that until most if not everything else is done.
Other than that, everything else is going well. Most everything is working as planned, if even when it doesn’t work, I find the solution shortly. I’m excited to finish this project to see if it works under the stress of more than one user at a time.
